Low-frequency seismic deghosting

چکیده
We evaluated a solution to seismic deghosting that deghosts the low-frequency components of the seismic pressure data. In an approximation that neglected the dependence on wavenumbers, the low-frequency deghosted pressure field was computed trace-by-trace as the sum of the pressure field and its scaled temporally integrated and temporally differentiated fields. We gave simple numerical examples that demonstrated the concept. The method was found to deghost data up to a frequency that is typically half of the second notch frequency. On the low-frequency side, the deghosting method was limited by the signal-to-noise ratio. The lowfrequency deghosting technique can be appropriate to apply to the part of seismic data that have penetrated and reflected beneath complex and attenuating overburdens such as basalt, salt, and chalk.

Deghosting of Ocean Bottom Cable Data :Two approaches
Two filter based approaches for deghosting of Ocean Bottom Cable data are presented. One of them is phase shifting of geophone followed by least square matching of cross ghosted geophone and hydrophone data.In the second approach, phase shifting of geophone is followed by direct matching of geophone’s amplitude spectrum with that of the hydrophone within the seismic bandwidth. Results obtained fr...

Nowadays, viable and cost-effective methods play a vital role in hydrocarbon exploration up to the point that geoscientists cannot rule out the importance of the passive seismic method (PSM) in oil exploration operations. This method is based on seismic energy, which has a natural source. This study focuses on seismic energy anomaly of 1-6 Hz. Some researches show that spectral and polarization...

متن کاملComparing Geostatistical Seismic Inversion Based on Spectral Simulation with Deterministic Inversion: A Case Study
Seismic inversion is a method that extracts acoustic impedance data from the seismic traces. Source wavelets are band-limited, and thus seismic traces do not contain low and high frequency information. Therefore, there is a serious problem when the deterministic seismic inversion is applied to real data and the result of deterministic inversion is smooth. Low frequency component is obtained fro...
متن کاملWave Equation Based Deghosting of OBC Data
Towed streamer operations in congested areas lead to gaps in 3D coverage making the OBC (Ocean Bottom Cable) method employing detectors on the ocean bottom a necessity. In order to ensure that high quality seismic data is obtained using this method one has to address the problem of water column reverberation at the acquisition stage itself. Every primary arrival at a detector location is follow...
